14 Candle Ceremony

This is not a Jewish ceremony per se , but it relates to the “birthday” aspect of the event, adding more fun to the celebration. It also presents the opportunity to honor additional guests. It can be organized in various ways. We asked the “honored” guests or relatives to light a candle and then tell a brief anecdote about our Bar/Bat Mitzva. He/she, in turn, lights the 14th candle and uses this as an opportunity to welcome/thank all the guests.
